Reading these comments that the students posted here, it seems that the teacher did all of the editing and the music. The video seems to feature the teacher more than the students themselves, as well.

To cloaka and sglenn, I have to disagree. We do need the technology. The effects used in this video were mostly created with free-trial softwares downloaded from the Internet. The only equipment Mr. Grothem has in his classroom are a borrowed LCD projector, 3 6 year old IBMs running Windows 2000, and his personal laptop (which was featured in the video). If you listen to the video, the video is about all of the possibilities and learning that could occur if Mr. Grothem had up-to-date equipment.

Well Angel, i understand, but you know the quotes that is student quotes class quotes and the pivot (stick figures clip) that was all the students work too. And we contributed OUR ideas to the video! He did edit it, but like I said that was pretty much it. We did the rest. We had to stay after school a lot of days, give up our lunch recess( not lunch we still ate, just the recess) and to top all of that we worked on the pivot at home ALONE without Mr. Grothem's help. And Robert French toast IS better!

I disagree with sglenn. If you can do this much with so little, I can only image what you can teach your students with the state of the art equipment being offered. We do not have a lot of technology. We were in the computer lab, which belongs to the whole school. No offense Corona Ranch but the computers are old slow and beat down. Like what Mr.Garwood said, the comments and star ratings on star videos do not match up. They do not even matter. So if people post negativity, don't even pay attenion. The judges will decide who moves on, and I doubt they look at the ratings and comments. Do you know why, because its our opinion! The judge panel will just watch the video thats all.

It's a very engaging video. I don't think there is too much teacher as some noted here. Kids did not sing but the rules do not indicate that they needed to. 40% of the judging will be based on the collaboration between the students and teachers. I see plenty of participation from both sides in this video, even if the teacher sang through out. Great job Corona Ranch!

How on earth are the children being put down mmblack? The kids look happy to me and excited to be participating. In the rules it says you must demonstrate how different kinds of technology are being used in the classroom...that is what they did. Some of the entrants show far more advanced technology in their classrooms already. We have none of those benefits. I think your comments are a bit rigid and harsh. A hairstyle has nothing to do with this contest. How do you sleep at night knowing you left such comments??!

Just because use of technology was shown in the video does not mean it's already in the classrooms. Most of the entries show computers in their videos too, its part of the requirement of the contest. There is nothing that says if you have a couple of slow dinosaur computers, do not enter contest...does it?;-)
I'm sure that Mr. Grothem did lots of the editing at home with whatever means he has. Probably just like all the others in this contest. Whom ever wins this contest, the kids benefit and learn. Everyone deserves that opportunity!

We all know of or had teachers that did not do a thing for us our our children...NOT the case here w/ this teacher...the students love to go to school....he made learning fun.
